In the Room Where I Belong
In the room where I belong, I am safe.
Safe from myself;
from the relentless thoughts of unworthiness that grip my throat so tight.
From the sleepless nights spent woken with darkened thoughts.
I am seen;
seen by those closest to me,
with love, kindness, understanding, compassion and care,
not with hurt or judgement that’s seemingly always found there.
I am heard;
my voice is strong, unwavering;
Clear, not misunderstood, nor twisted, nor silenced.
Never misinterpreted, taken away, ignored.
In the room where I belong, I am me…
And even at my weakest, I am strong…
