12/2/2022 Poetry By Jessica Whipple Sovraskin CC Sometimes I Google You There are names I know like a stairwell knows an echo poems I can’t write an echo in a stairwell is a poem: footsteps on pavement footsteps on pavement like fingers on a keyboard I search a name in keying the letters you and your name are real again in an instant your name becomes a prayer: “Let me find nothing.” Google speaks no evil internet silence shhh, can you hear it? in silence we climbed do you remember? I’m at the top now… we stormed that brutalist column you have to see it up here now-- there’s so much open air up here is the rest of ever in open air I’m steady sounds of traffic below, day and night but steady is temporary, I know it changes in a day and a night so listen, just for now listen ![]() Jessica Whipple writes for adults and children from her home in Lancaster.
