Skate Avatar Your hair is purple to distract from the fact that your eyes are not quite right. I can’t tell you why. Maybe they’re too central. Like when a face is mirrored and the twinness doesn’t work. Your hair is purple to distract from the fact that you don’t know how to show emotion. If you attempted a fist bump of joy or a yowl of despair I might just break. Your hair is purple to distract from the fact you will never be a real human. You will never touch the sea. You will never know the balm of woods and the rush of meeting after so long apart. Your hair is purple to distract from the facts. Sarah L Dixon is based in Huddersfield. She had recent acceptances for Bloody Amazing and Mancunian Ways. Her books are ‘The sky is cracked’ (Half Moon Press, 2017) and ‘Adding wax patterns to Wednesday’ (Three Drops Press, 2018). Sarah’s inspiration comes from ale, being by/in water and adventures with her son, Frank (10). www.thequietcompere.co.uk
