5/25/2021 Poetry by Sezalpreet Kaur Daniel Wehner CC In the poem, everything is beautiful. And soft. In the poem, I am beautiful. In the poem, I don’t have anxiety attacks. In the poem, I don’t know anything about OCD. In the poem my mother doesn’t lie to me about anything. In the poem, everybody is honest to me. In the poem, no one bullies me. In the poem, I am strong. In the poem I cook good food and everyone likes it. In the poem, my brother outlives me. I am the one to die young. And to be remembered. In the poem, I and my brother play with the touch-me-nots’ leaves in a stranger’s garden. In the poem, I am ecstatic. In the poem, I have a home. In the poem, I don’t grow up. I stay young forever. In the poem, there’s no mist. In the poem I own a sunflower field, a bookstore and an art gallery. In the poem, I live in Italy and never go back to my mother’s house. In the poem, I only remember good things. In the poem, I don’t burst into tears after saying ‘I love you’ to you. In the poem, I never run away. In the poem, I’m never guilty. In the poem, I write more love poems. In the poem, we never grow up. In the poem, I like everything. In the poem, I’m loved. Sezalpreet Kaur is an emerging writer, artist and feminist from India.
