10/25/2019 The Dress by Lucy Whitehead tantillus CC The Dress I had a sundress made of endless skies hemmed with bees and wildflowers, a kaleidoscope of summers stitched together horizons reaching away on every side. I wore it day after day believing it would last even though its edges were ragged, its tears patched. I never realised that if I didn't pass it on one day, half-way through my life, it would fade and fall apart in my hands. Lucy's poetry has appeared in Amethyst Review, Barren Magazine, Black Bough Poetry, Burning House Press, Collective Unrest, Electric Moon Magazine, Ghost City Review, Mookychick Magazine, and Twist in Time Literary Magazine. She has a BA in Archaeology and Anthropology from the University of Cambridge and an MA in Art History and Archaeology from the SOAS University of London. She lives by the sea with her husband and cat. Her Twitter handle is @blueirispoetry. Comments are closed.
